A Little Rock native who went into asphalt

Summers on a crew, then a company of his own

Alec grew up in Little Rock and spent his summers working on his father's construction crew. That's where he learned what a job site actually runs on: an early start, the right order of work, and a crew that cleans up before it leaves.

Those summers taught him something else, too. What holds any job up is the ground under it, the water around it, and the weight on it. On a paving job, those are exactly the parts that decide how long the surface lasts, and exactly the parts you can't see once the new asphalt is down.

In 2015 he started his own paving company. Eleven years on, it's still family-owned and still run from Little Rock.

Why what's under the asphalt comes first

A new driveway looks good on day one whether it was built right or not. The difference shows up later, and it almost always comes from below: ground that was soft when it was paved over, a base that was too thin, or water with nowhere to go but into the cracks.

So that's where our attention goes first. Where does the rain run now? What's the ground like under the old surface? What's going to drive on it? The answers set the base, the slope, and the thickness of the asphalt, and the thickness goes on your quote in inches, compacted.

It's also why we'll sometimes tell you that you don't need new asphalt. If your base is sound, an overlay, a repair, or sealcoating may be all it takes.

How we work with you

  • A person answers. Call and press 1, and your call rings through to someone who can help.
  • The estimate is free and written. It says what we'll do, what's under the surface, and the asphalt thickness in inches, compacted, so you can hold it up against anyone else's.
  • No decisions on the doorstep. We don't knock on doors with leftover asphalt. Take your time with the quote.
  • Changes get agreed first. If something turns up once the old surface is out, we talk about it before the work changes.
  • We leave the place clean. Old material hauled off, edges finished, the street swept.
